Master Blaster

image_masterblasterThe story of Kevin Williams so far………..

When I was 5 years old, TV started in Brisbane and one of the shows was a Show called "The Black and White Minstrels' Show" and it was all singing and my passion was ignited. I have never stopped since and one of my first ambitions was  to be on that show that never happened as the show only lasted about 1 year or 2.

I  moved onto singing in the Church Choir from the age of 7 or 8. Rock N Roll was always calling me to perform from my young days listening to my brother’s Buddy Holly collection and my sister’s Elvis Presley collection. I could be heard walking around the house singing and jumping and having a ball….. Somethings never change.

When I was about 15 I joined a band called “The Fox” we were all about the same age and played only a few gigs but one of the band members went on to bigger and brighter things his name Ed Kuepper (The Saints) lead Guitar.

After my first brush with the entertainment industry I was hooked. The next band was Dyonisus for about 2 years. This band was with some local Chermside friends which is where I spent my childhood.

Then came Left Wing this band came together from Jam sessions in the basement of the Australian Academy of Music which was in Leichardt Street Spring Hill and a lot of bands were formed in the late 60’s in the same way. Left Wing were appeared on the Telethon one year.

I took time off in 69 but on my return I formed a Band called Regos and we performed around South East Queensland and as far afield as Toowoomba and Bundaberg. Regos also had the pleasure of being the support act for Bad Company at the wonderful Festival Hall.

I had long wanted to get a keyboard player into the band as my musical interests were leaning to bands with good keyboards so I left Regos to form a band which would have Keyboards in it. I went back to the Academy to look for musos with the same musical tastes.

Switch started within a few weeks Phil Harmonic and I worked with a few other guys in the first setup of Switch in which Phil taught me some Keyboards over the next 2 years or so we morphed into
Phil on Bass and Vocals
Banger on Drums and Vocals
Gumby on Keyboards
Pete on Guitar and Vocals
Kev on Vocals and extra Keyboards when needed

Hammer joined the band towards the end.

Now after a couple of decades, the "itch" is still there to perform so;

I wanted to put "Switch" back together again so that we could play excellent "Classic Rock" in a market lacking for the 35-60 year old rockers.... where a lack of "good memories" music and songs that you know and love is now missing in clubs, pubs and the like.

Why and How to book us

Why? …Because the award-winning Switch is now BACK and OUR performance was always in demand and outshines any competition....and the band just love what they do and so will you!

Enjoy! You’ll love it!
